Jean-François Millet (1814-1875)

Millet is part of the famous realist Barbizon school. He chose to depict especially the poor farmers who lived in harsh conditions. Maybe his most famous work is “The Gleaners” where three poor woman were working hard to collect the remaining stray grains after the harvest. He was a big inspiration for the later Vincent van Gogh.
