About the author

This site was made for fun and to share fascinating art from another era. It is great to see that beauty does not have borders, neither geographical nor human. This is illustrated by the visitor map above. You can click the viewer to expand the map or select individual countries.

I am not an art expert but a Dutch internal medicine/critical care physician who likes 19th century art. As always in art, my selection is somewhat arbitrary and personal. Therefore the content on this site is not meant to be complete but rather to give an introduction. If you have comments or suggestions, please use the reply section below.

    Dear Michel Top,

I work in a documentary film production and i am reaching out because we would like to use some picture s of painting you published on your site, in our new documentary. But i want to know if you have the rights for those images and if you would kindly allow us to use them.
Please reach out to me via my email (that you should have in private as the site says (?) ) when you see my comment,
Thank you so much for your help
    Best regards
    Louise

      Dear Louise

Sorry for the late answer. I do not check the comments on this website regularly. I have no special rights for the images, they should be public domain because it concerns paintings of more than a century ago. My site is only intended to give an introduction and some guidance.
All the best with your documentary. By the way, this documentary is about (19th century) art ?

      Michel
